Paris 2019, Part II

From Notre Dame, we walked to Square Viviani

past St. Séverin,

to Sainte Chapelle.

A picture experiment using the pano function. Obviously, I hold a camera like I slice bread - it's never going to be straight.

The incredible stained glass windows with brilliant light and colors rivet one's attention so much that other details of the chapel can be overlooked.

Then on to the Conciergerie.

The chapel dedicated to Marie-Antoinette.

In order to access Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie you have to go through very high security because they are located in Palais de Justice de Paris, a working judicial center/courthouse. I wish we had been able to access that building to watch court proceedings, but I tend not to get too inquisitive when the guards are in full military dress and carrying military weapons.

By the time we were done touring the Conciergerie, it was the beginning of rush hour and starting to rain. We found a nearby cafe

and decided to take a "crepe break" (which began a little tradition while we were in Paris), then continue our sightseeing until dinner (which in accordance with Parisian tradition happens around 9 or 10 p.m.).

Mine was Nutella and banana - delicious!

Scenes from our trip back to the hotel before dinner.
