Payback's a Bitch

Back on Sunday evening, I wrote about how I realized my parents are officially "old." Well, like the title of this post says...

Today I stopped at a national chain drug store to buy a pair of cheap reading glasses to wear with my contact lenses. I can see things clearly in the distance with my contacts, especially when driving a car, but reading documents, papers, and looking at my computer screen - not so much.

For the past few days, I've been putting the contacts in, taking them out when I get to the office and wearing my glasses to do work, putting my contacts back in before driving the car. The only drawback was that it got a bit cumbersome as I am often in and out of my office and car numerous times per work day. Last night I tried driving with my glasses - bad idea - I couldn't read signs that less than a block away. Someone suggested buying a cheap pair of reading glasses until I can get to my eye doctor at the end of this month. So far, the reading glasses are working - I just can't scan my desk quickly or abruptly turn my head without getting a tad nauseated.

I'm not looking forward to my eye appointment at the end of the month because I know what I have to look forward to...Bifocals!

We all know what's coming next.

I wonder what tomorrow's weather forecast is for Prague.

Bifocals aren't so bad.I wear trifocals much of the time. I never wore contacts. There are contact lens solutions to aging eyes.Talk to you doctor.

Yes, there is most definitely a contact lens solution to your problem! I know people who wear them and love them. A bit pricy but worth it if you don't want to go the glasses route.

If you do go the glasses route I've had wonderful luck with my variable focus lenses and the benefit to them (in addition to not looking like an old lady with bi- or tri-focals) is that they gradually change so there will be a spot for seeing the computer screen and one for reading.

With any of these your motion sickness might be a bit of a problem although I have it too (not as bad as yours) and haven't had any of the trouble with the variable focus lenses that I was told I might.

Of course, your current solution might continue to be the best for you, my former coworker did that for quite a while prior to investing in the bifocal contact lenses.

I used el cheapo WalMart reading glasses with my contacts for a long time (having checked with my eye doctor, of course) and it worked well for me. When I finally had to go to bifocals I got progressive lenses which are just great. And there are the contact lens solutions that Lorraine mentioned. I think you'll find you have lots of options.

Bifocals are too bad, but becareful of the no line ones, I tried and talk about nauseated and judging distance of steps oh dear, now with those I truly felt old. So now I have the line and love them but still have my readers.
Good Luck
