We saw 4-H exhibits...
award winning cheese...
tractor pulling contests...
and animals. (How cute are these rabbits?)
There were knitting, crocheting, and spinning entries.
I assumed all entries were by kids in 4-H, but adults from the community entered items, too. We know this because they list the entrant's age. I am so entering knitted items next year.
But the high point, the pinnacle, the social highlight of the weekend was the demolition derby races. The fairgrounds were fairly empty when we headed home for dinner. When we came back, we didn't even get near the grandstands.
I've never been to a demolition derby before. Wow. I can't think of any activity that leaves a bigger carbon footprint than this. I left thinking that DH and I need to live more "green" just to make up for being there.
The beer sign read, "1 beer - $2.25. 9 beers - $20." It took us a minute to realize that you save all of 25 cents for buying nine beers.
Some people take their band tour T-shirts seriously. I saw one from the Rolling Stones American Tour
1972.
I have to admit - I've got some T-shirts left from my high school days, but nothing this old and still fit to wear in public.

What a cultural wonder of an event!
But I'm thinking what you would have to do to make up for THAT footprint would be closer to living naked in the woods eating bark and berries -- UGH!
...ENTER! ENTER! ENTER! And if you need tips, just let me know. I did the state fair for years at least 10) and always seemed to do well. If you get a chance to go to judging it is a great way to find out how to improve your work.
Yes, you should definitely enter next year - I've seen your work and know you would do yourself proud!
